Sarah Lane is the General Counsel for the Oklahoma Supreme Court’s Administrative Office of the Courts (AOC). Sarah was born and raised in Creek County, Oklahoma. She is a member of the Oklahoma Bar and has practiced law in Oklahoma for more than 20 years. Sarah joined the AOC’s legal team in 2023.Sarah has chosen public sector practice because she feels very strongly that she is called to serve and has dedicated her career to serving, strengthening, and protecting entities that serve others in both state and federal government. Her career in state government began in 2016, with her appointment as the first ever in-house counsel to the Oklahoma Department of Veterans Affairs. In 2019, she was promoted to the position of Deputy Executive Director, and she served as Acting Executive Director in 2022.Prior to her work for the State of Oklahoma, Sarah served her state and nation from 2005-2016 as a commissioned officer in the Oklahoma Army National Guard where she served as a Judge Advocate General (JAG) and as the Supervisory Contracting Officer for the United States Property and Fiscal Office in support of the Army and Air National Guard. Sarah worked in private practice in Enid and Oklahoma City from 2002-2008.Sarah is an adjunct faculty member of Oklahoma Christian University in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, where she teaches undergraduate Business Law at the Harvey School of Business. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Tulsa where she majored in Finance, a Master of Arts from the University of Oklahoma in Organizational Leadership, and a Juris Doctorate from the University of Richmond.Sarah is also a member of the Board of Directors and an officer of the Oklahoma Chapter of the Farmer Veteran Coalition, a nonprofit organization. She and her husband of 29 years have one daughter, who is currently in basic training as part of her military commitment as a cadet at the US Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
