Judge Pipes began his professional career in 1985 as an associate and partner with Shadid & Pipes and then as an associate and shareholder with Dunlap Codding P.C., where he practiced primarily in the area of Intellectual Property law. He left private practice in 2018 when he was selected by the Oklahoma County District Judges to serve as a special judge.
Judge Pipes was born and raised in Lawton and attended Oklahoma City University where he graduated with Bachelors Degree in Music in 1979. He received his law degree from Oklahoma City University, with Distinction, in 1985 and where he was a frequent adjunct professor teaching or assisted in teaching:
